Retrofitting the hydraulic long stroke on Herminghausen machines
The problem: Leakages in the hydraulic system and on the long-stroke cylinder in the most inaccessible area of the machine under the main support. Defective motor and worm gear drive.
Solution: Retrofitting a servo-motor with a ball screw spindle. Eliminating the entire hydraulic system and the worm gear assembles in the machine base, which means no further overheating of the latter. All parts, including the motor, designed to facilitate servicing and be easily accessible from outside. Procedures for setting up the machine and grinding gap have been drastically simplified and the piercing cycles are freely programmable. Within the technical grinding scope, piercing cycles can now be accelerated and the adjustment precision is within 0.1 mm.
