Retrofitting a metric threaded spindle on a ball screw
The problem: The dressing devices for grinding and regulating wheels on the Herminghausen SR2 model are equipped with metric threaded spindles. However, the spindles allowing lateral movement have often worn out and no longer provide uniform support over the entire length, which results in the spindle nut being subject to play.
Solution: SFS replaces the defective spindle with a ball screw.
The ball screw nut is preloaded for zero play and has minimal frictional torque. This conversion facilitates the process of replacing the old DC motor for a modern adjustable drive.
The new drive elements ensure uniform transfer of the carriage, which paves the way for a positive dressing result.
